Cutler Anderson Architects made Ohana House at Niulii is one of the houses that are located on Hawaiian hilltops to catch all amazing views around but protected from constant 10-40-knot-per-hour winds. The roofs are pitched to match the angle of the hill on which the house sits, sheltering the courtyard from the elements. Large glazed walls capture not only views of beautiful nature around but also the ocean. They also make the house interior be filled with natural light during the day. The building is anchored to the land on a rock base through steel tie downs that are visually laced into the rafters and pinned into the stone foundation.
